High Street Fish and Chip Shop/Restaurant
The fish frier will work in a small team in a high street fish & chip shop/ restaurant with lots of prospects to gain skills and knowledge as part of their fish and shellfish intermediate apprenticeship.
As a fish frier you will be able to take in deliveries of fish and shellfish from suppliers, prepare the fish and shellfish for cooking and help to supply cooked items for the customers.
A good knowledge of the fish and chip shop business will become second nature to you as you work through your apprenticeship programme. You will also learn how to handle and prepare fish and shellfish, deal with customer enquiries, clean and maintain shop hygiene and contribute to the success of this small, modern business.

30+ Flexible hours per week. Days, Nights and Weekends. Hours to be agreed.
Future prospects description:
Complete an Intermediate Fish and Shellfish Apprenticeship, possibly leading to an Advanced Apprenticeship (management level) at a later date. Individual qualification in food safety.
The Apprenticeship will provide some flexibility and an opportunity to undertake some specialist unit if you have a particular interest to explore.
Opportunities may arise in the future to take on a management role within the business or even to run your own business.
Previous experience of fish frying ideal, but not essential.
Be able to communicate with different sectors of the public. Work in a small team. Potential to acquire a new set of skills.
Good time keeping, Pleasant manners and approachable. Clean, tidy and hygienic. Be able to work in a small team. Prepared to handle and work with raw fish and shellfish.
No formal qualifications required.
Important Other Information:
A Work based Intermediate Apprenticeship @ Level 2 will be offered
Please note that achieving Math and English Level 1 is essential to complete the apprenticeship programme.
The successful candidate will be required to achieve a level of skill in the preparation and cooking of fish and shellfish. All fish friers are expected to handle wet fish, clean as they go and maintain food safety and maintain the highest levels of quality at all times.
