In this unit, you’ll explore the value of play and how it supports the development of young children. You’ll learn how to develop suitable play activities based on childrens’ ages and individual needs, and understand the role of an adult in providing play for young children.
- Unit 3: Importance of play for early learning
In this unit, you’ll explore the links between play and children’s learning and development. You’ll learn how different activities can contribute to a child’s creative and imaginative development, as well as the importance of books and stories in relation to children’s learning and development.
- Unit 4: Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
Learn the key principles of safeguarding children and young people and protecting them from harm. This unit will explore the current legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures for safeguarding children and young people, including e-safety. You’ll also learn how to respond in an emergency situation and appropriately react to evidence of abuse or bullying.

In this unit, you’ll gain an introductory understanding of how to plan and make healthy and nutritious food choices for children and young people. You’ll learn how to use nutritional information from food labels to make healthy choices and apply principles of healthy eating to your own diet.
