What is the Civil Service?

The UK Civil Service is an organisation that advises and supports the government in delivering policies and public services. Nearly 500,000 people work for the Civil Service across hundreds of departments, in all sorts of roles, spread throughout the UK!

It is politically neutral and independent of the government and political parties. There’s a place for anyone who’s motivated and hard-working in the Civil Service – and this course will help get your foot in the door!

  • Searching for vacancies
  • Understanding Civil Service job descriptions
  • Virtual interview introduction and practice
  • Understanding the application process, including: the psychometric test, verbal reasoning test, situational judgement test, and behaviour statements.
You'll be introduced to best practice principles of approaching and completing each of these stages and will undertake simulated activities, practice tests, mock interviews and more.

As part of your Employability course, we focus on development, improvement and practical application of digital skills.
