In the first unit, you’ll explore what’s meant by ‘equality’ and ‘diversity’ and look at how they exist in today’s society. You’ll learn how and why people may form prejudices and stereotype others, and then delve into the damaging effects that stereotyping, labelling and discrimination can have on individuals. Furthermore, you’ll form an understanding of the characteristics that make people unique.
- Unit 2: Equality and diversity in the community
In this unit, you’ll look at how equality and diversity exists within communities and understand the value in creating and maintaining a diverse environment. You’ll explore the types of inequality that can arise within a community and identify threats to creating a diverse, inclusive and equitable community. Plus, you’ll learn about the various support services and groups that exist within a community to support the promotion of equality and diversity.
- Unit 3: Equality and diversity in the workplace
In the final unit, you’ll explore the role of equality and diversity in the workplace and the effect it can have on recruitment, pay, working conditions, and promotion opportunities. You’ll learn how organisations can promote a diverse workforce, champion equality, and overcome challenges in establishing and maintaining a diverse workplace. Additionally, you’ll examine how individual rights are protected in the work environment and common ways of monitoring equality and diversity in the workplace.
