This course introduces the day-to-day work of a warehouse, from receiving and storing goods to picking, packing, dispatch and stock records. You’ll also build health and safety awareness, customer service skills and receive employment support to help you move closer to work.

Course Content

U1
You’ll gain an overview of the warehousing and storage industry, including different types of warehousing, key logistics roles and the main functions and benefits of warehousing.
U2
You’ll learn how goods are received, checked and stored safely. This includes preparing for deliveries, carrying out quality checks, using handling equipment safely and storing goods correctly depending on their type and size.
U3
You’ll learn how to process orders and prepare goods for dispatch. This includes selecting and checking goods accurately, preparing items for delivery, understanding why stock is held and reducing health and safety risks.
U4
You’ll learn how stock checks are carried out, why they matter and how to update records accurately. You’ll also look at how to deal with damaged, faulty or out-of-date items and reduce risks when checking stock.
U5
You’ll learn why customer service matters in warehousing and storage, how it affects the customer experience and how to understand and respond to customer needs.
