Explore the foundations of cyber security, including its importance, key concepts, and the consequences of poor practices. You’ll learn about security-by-design principles, the motivations behind cyber-attacks, and how to mitigate risks through thoughtful design and planning.

Learn to identify and assess cyber threats using threat intelligence and Open Source Intelligence (OSINT). Understand threat models, malicious software, and how human factors impact attacks. Gain skills in analysing data to make informed recommendations for protecting systems and responding to emerging cyber threats.

Master techniques for cyber security testing, identifying vulnerabilities, and applying effective controls. Learn to mitigate risks, report testing outcomes, and implement basic frameworks. This unit combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications to strengthen your understanding of system protection.
U4
Explore the legal and ethical landscape of cyber security. Learn about UK and international laws, information security standards, and ethical practices. Understand how to identify and avoid unethical behaviours, promoting integrity and compliance in cyber security operations.

This unit considers the importance of effective communication to a leader and manager. Having completed this unit, learners will have developed fundamental knowledge, allowing them to improve the way in which they communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders. The aim of this unit is to support the effectiveness and efficiency of a leader/manager through the development of their communication skills.
U6
Develop the professional skills needed for a successful cyber security career. Assess your skills, create a personal development plan, and understand security clearance requirements. Learn the importance of continuous professional development to stay current in this fast-evolving industry.
