Lesson times Your daily Zoom session, with our experienced and dynamic tutor, runs from 9:30am to 4:30pm (with a one hour lunch break).

Starting a business can seem overwhelming and complicated. There are so many things you have to consider, from coming up with an excellent idea to registering a company, all the way to business planning, fundraising…and much more. This course will give you the clarity and direction that every entrepreneur should have.

This course will give you a solid understanding of how to start your own successful business.

By the end of this course, you'll have:

  • Identify a range of potential business start-up ideas and use market research to validate them
  • Understand the market and how to develop a brand for your business start-up
  • Develop marketing strategies for promoting your business
  • Recognise the difference between cash, profit and cash flow and understand how to manage customers and suppliers
  • Create a business plan for your business start-up, as well a suitable contingency plan

Course Content

U1
In this introductory unit, you’ll learn the initial steps for setting up a business start-up. You’ll explore the different types of business ownership, develop ideas for your business start-up and work out what resources are required to get up and running.
U2
Learn how to take your business idea to market. In this unit, you’ll discover how to use market research, branding and promotional strategies to position your business in the market. You’ll also explore different pricing strategies and create a medium-term pricing plan for your business.
U3
In this unit, you’ll gain an understanding of the legal and financial factors that will affect your business start-up idea, including tax requirements, employment legislation, data protection regulations, and copyright legislation. You’ll also learn the difference between cash, turnover and profit and how to effectively deal with customers and suppliers.
U4
Take the knowledge you learn and apply it creating your own business plan. This unit is designed to provide you with an understanding of business planning and will guide you through creating a final business plan for your business start-up.

All our Home Learning courses are assignment based, you will need to complete assignments for each of the units of the qualifications and submit them to your assessor.
