Starting a business can seem overwhelming and complicated. There are so many things you have to consider, from coming up with an excellent idea to registering a company, all the way to business planning, fundraising, legal considerations… and much more.Β 

This course will give you the clarity and direction that every entrepreneur should have, leaving you with a solid understanding of how to start your own successful business.

By the end of this course, you'll be able to:

  • Identify a range of potential business start-up ideas and use market research to validate them
  • Understand the market and how to develop a brand for your business start-up
  • Develop marketing strategies for promoting your business
  • Recognise the difference between cash, profit and cash flow and understand how to manage customers and suppliers
  • Create a business plan for your business start-up, as well a suitable contingency plan

Course Content

U1
In this introductory unit, you’ll learn the initial steps for establishing your business start-up. You’ll explore the different types of business ownership, develop ideas for your business start-up and work out what resources are required to get up and running.
U2
In this unit, you will learn how to take your business idea to market. You will discover how to use market research, branding and promotional strategies to position your business in the market. You’ll also explore different pricing strategies and create a medium-term pricing plan for your business.
U3
In this unit, you’ll gain an understanding of the legal and financial factors that will affect your business start-up idea, including tax requirements, employment legislation, data protection regulations, and copyright legislation. You’ll also learn the difference between cash, turnover and profit, and how to effectively deal with customers and suppliers.
U4
Take the knowledge you have learned and apply it into creating your own business plan. This unit is designed to provide you with an understanding of business planning and will guide you through creating a final business plan for your business start-up.
