Course Description

This qualification is ideal for anyone with an interest in the responsibilities and tasks involved in a business administration role. By exploring the principles of supporting events, project management, and changes within a business environment, you will develop a competitive and impressive knowledge about this sector, which can help you start a new career or progress within a current role.

Course Content
  • Unit 1: Working in business and administration

Discover what’s involved in the role of an administrator and how to carry out routine tasks, such as answering phone calls, using office equipment, making appointments and managing spreadsheets and databases. You’ll also learn techniques for staying organised, presenting a positive image and maintaining confidentiality.

  • Unit 2: Creating business documents

In this unit, you’ll develop the skills to identify and produce a variety of business documents. You’ll explore different types of communication styles, learn why some businesses adopt a ‘house style’ and understand how to apply this knowledge in producing routine business documents, such as letters, invoices and memos.

  • Unit 3: Welcome visitors

Learn how to make visitors feel welcome, as well as the organisational procedures for receiving visitors in the workplace. You’ll learn how to treat visitors politely and in a respectful way to create a positive impression of yourself and the organisation as a whole.

  • Unit 4: Making and receiving calls

Develop an understanding of how to make, receive and successfully handle telephone calls. You’ll learn how to clearly communicate over the phone, answer calls promptly and professionally, and adhere to any organisational procedures relating to confidentiality and security.

  • Unit 5: Handling mail

During this unit, you’ll develop skills in handling mail efficiently and securely. Understand how to manage incoming and outgoing mail, deal with suspicious or damaged items, and appropriately sort, categorise and distribute mail within the workplace.

  • Unit 6: Developing self

Learn how to take an active role in your self-development, with a focus on improving your personal skills, abilities and behaviours. You’ll explore your personal strengths, identify areas for self-development and prepare a plan for reaching your goals.

  • Unit 7: Individual rights and responsibilities

Throughout this unit, you’ll gain awareness of your own individual rights and responsibilities in relation to work; housing; health and welfare; data protection and freedom of information; consumer rights; diversity and discrimination; marriage, cohabitation and civil partnerships.

  • Unit 8: Working as part of group

Develop the skills to become an active contributor when working with others. In this unit, you’ll learn how to contribute to the planning of group and individual activities, give and receive feedback in a positive way, and support others in a group setting.

  • Unit 9: Working towards goals

Learn how to set and work towards achieving your goals. As part of this unit, you’ll identify a goal you’d like to achieve in your learning, work or personal life. You’ll then create an action plan to work towards your goal and actively monitor your progress.

Are you eligible to complete this qualification for free?

This qualification is 100% government funded if:

  • You were born before the 31st August 2004
  • You must currently live in England. However, anyone living in the following areas is not eligible for funding: Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Greater Manchester, Liverpool City Region, Tees Valley, West Midlands and West of England
  • Must live in the UK or EEA:
    • If you are outside of London: You have lived in the EEA for the last 3 years (unless you have been given a special Visa/Residence permits that gives you the permanent right to remain)
    • If you are within Greater London: You must have permission to reside in the UK for the next 12 months
  • Are unemployed:
    • If you are outside of London: Can provide evidence of being in receipt of benefits (subject to eligibility)
    • If you are within Greater London: There is no need to be in receipt of benefits. However, you must be actively seeking work and available to start work (subject to eligibility)
  • Can provide Identifications and relevant documentation as required
  • For Level 2 courses: If on the 31st of August 2022, you were aged between 19-23, you need to have gained a full level 2 qualification (e.g. five or more GCSE/O-Levels at grades A* – C / 4 – 9, one A-Level, two/three AS-Levels, five or more CSE grade 1’s, GNVQ Intermediate, QCF Diploma Level 2)

No, you don’t need to attend our training center for any of our Home Learning courses. You can enroll on one course at a time, but you can do as many as you like to achieve your career goals. We are happy to give you information, advice and guidance on any courses you wish to complete.
Of course. All our courses are accredited courses and you will receive a nationally recognized certification on achievement.
All our Home Learning courses are assignment based, you will need to complete assignments for each of the units of the qualifications and submit them to your assessor.

We continually try to make learning simple and transparent. Learning through our online platform is incredibly easy and you can navigate around your qualification quickly and access all the learning materials as soon as you login. Your studying should be about what you learn, not how you learn it. Which is why we make the entire process as simple as possible to help you adjust to learning online.
The general certification process is normally from 6-8 weeks. However, due to the pandemic, the Awarding Bodies service has been impacted which can cause a delay. We are working hard to distribute all the certificates that we have received in a timely manner and we will send a text as soon as the certificates are ready.
