For the first time in my life, I found myself unemployed due to the Covid pandemic. I was happily working as part of British Airway’s cabin crew for the last 13 years.

In August 2020 I was made redundant, I had no idea how much the loss of a job could affect me. I developed anxiety, insecurity, worrying about my age (I’m 40 years old) and spent all my time applying for jobs, anything available, warehouses, supermarkets, minimum paid vacancies with no success. I wasn’t being picky I just needed a job.

As I was left with so much free time, as soon as my work coach mentioned the courses available at Strive, I jumped to the occasion- I could only learn from the experience.

It was my first ever online course, but I had the feeling it was going to be well organised and tailored to the current situation.

And Strive exceeded my expectations! The course was free of charge and my experience was so positive due to my amazing tutor, Antonia. She is committed, passionate, realistic, and sincerely tried to help us. After so much time spent in isolation it was a bonus being able to meet other people in the same situation as me. It made feel less lonely and less unlucky. We were all in the same boat, hardworking, qualified people that all of a sudden had their world turned upside down.

I would strongly advise anyone to take this course, it gives you a chance to learn, practice and understand how to be successful in your job applications.
