My name is Khadijah and I live in London.
I’ve worked in Information, Advice and Guidance for many years but hadn’t had time to gain any specific qualifications in it.
The Covid-19 lockdown gave me time to learn and was a welcome distraction from the uncertainty and anxiety that comes with a pandemic.
I have just completed the Level 2 in Information, Advice and Guidance course with Strive’s Home Learning programme.
I was glad it was online, but also a bit pensive, because online learning relies heavily on high quality resources and as I had never studied with Strive before, I wasn’t sure what the quality would be like. Well, I was very pleasantly surprised!
The digital textbook had everything I needed in it to do the assessments, so it was really very easy to get through the course. (I think I completed in record time – 10 days. I probably could have finished more quickly, but I took the long weekend off!). The best thing about it was that it was accredited and free. I liked the fact I could do it all online and to my own schedule.
The textbook being comprehensive really helped. The tutor, Shani, was also very supportive and welcomed support requests. It was reassuring to know she was always available and willing to help.
In fact, I probably would have dragged my feet about it, if I hadn’t seen how much she invests in trying to motivate and support her students.
I learnt a surprising amount. A lot of it I knew, but in a disorganised and vague way.
It also helped that some of the things I had learnt by osmosis, so to speak, while working in IAG were actually in the underpinning theories of what best practice in IAG looks like, for example, neutrality and impartiality.
I should mention that I was really impressed by the support staff, from the person on the chat on the website to the enrolment officer.
They were very efficient and professional.
I have already sent friends and family links to different courses with Strive Training!
