Strive Training partnered with Lifeways Group to host the Careers in Care at Sutton Job Centre Plus.
The event provided clients with the opportunity to learn about the care sector. While some attendees had previously not considered such careers, others had been determined to enter the sector – but did not know where to start.
Strive Training Health and Social Care tutor, Kim Mathurin, was on-hand to provide expert advice and guidance. John O’Hara, regional recruitment coordinator of the Lifeways Group – a care home operator – was also available to answer clients’ questions about professional opportunities with the organisation.
Ananta Patel, Strive Training’s Employee Engagement Manager, was pleased with the event. “We think it’s important to be proactive to reach as many people as possible. We had a good number of customers approach our desk. A big thank you to Sutton Jobcentre for supporting the event.”
Strive Training and Lifeways Group’s collaboration has resulted in a significant number of learners finding work with the growing company.
Learners attending Strive Training’s Health and Social Care level 1 qualification hear a presentation from Mr. O’Hara regarding opportunities with the Lifeways Group. Interested learners will then attend an interview with the organisation upon completion of the course, with successful applicants hired immediately – with their DBS check paid for by the company.
Mr. O’Hara commented that Lifestyles Group is “very happy to work in collaboration with Strive Training to recruit for vacancies in the area. Strive Training truly prepare people for a rewarding career in care.”
